Bees and pollen: Don't rule out trees

Updated: Aug 23, 2022

With honey bees we often focus on flowers but a single tree like an American Elm Tree or Manchurian Pear Tree one single tree can supply enough pollen and nectar for a hundred bee hives whilst in flower.

Another fantastic bee feeding tree is Nyssa Tree (Nyssa sylvatica). The flowers are very small, in greenish-white in clusters at the top of a long stalk and a rich source of nectar for bees throughout summer. We have three of thee trees on our property here in Emerald Victoria, The Nyssa stays in flower almost the entire summer and the bees love them.
